Student Midwifery Apprenticeship
Our midwives are committed to preserving the art and science of midwifery for future generations.
We offer student apprenticeship placements for individuals who have completed the didactic portion of their midwifery education and are ready to gain hands on experience within a busy, community based midwifery practice. We work with Birth Center and Home birth Midwives.
About the Apprenticeship
This apprenticeship is designed for midwifery students who have already completed their academic coursework and are prepared to enter a real world practice environment.
Placements range from three to twelve months, depending on availability, student readiness, and program alignment.
What We Are Looking For
Applicants should:
Have completed the didactic portion of their midwifery education
Have a solid foundation in midwifery and reproductive health
Be prepared to learn within a busy, broad scope practice
Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and readiness for clinical learning
What the Apprenticeship Involves
During the apprenticeship
Students participate in the daily operations of the practice
Students gain exposure to pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care
Learning occurs through observation, participation, and mentorship
Specific expectations, roles, and schedules are discussed individually as part of the onboarding process.
Additional Student Opportunities
We may offer limited observation opportunities for nursing students when capacity allows.
Graduate level students may also inquire about research or project based learning opportunities related to perinatal health and community based care.
